Well, I'm Brittany Lord in real life, but most people call me Tealya online. I started Yang Child way back in 2003 when I was still a freshmen in collage. At the time, my art and ability to tell stories with pictures were seriously lacking but working on Yang Child has helped me improve in both areas considerably. By the time I started my second comic, Tainted, I had improved considerable. Though I am much more of a writer than an artist, I chose to do both as comics because they were far too visual in my mind to be written. They needed some sort of visuals to accompany the text.
I have also done the art for the pet sim Squffies. If you like pet games featuring cute fluffy squirrel like critters, come check us out. The site is still in development, but people are free to join and play. New faces are always welcome. ^_^
I have had no formal training in art nor any particular artistic 'gift', so if you think you can't draw, guess again. Anyone can draw. Getting good at it just takes practice and a willingness to learn. I have read many online tutorials and books that have helped me learn along the way. My recommendation to anyone who wants to give comics, or just drawing in general, a try, is to go for it. You wont be great at first, so don't be discouraged if it's not perfect the first few times. You will get better in time.
